Tahkovouri is in central Finland in an area of rolling hills lakes and forests. It is a well-known ski centre with some of the best downhill skiing facilities in mid-Finland. Cross-country skiing and snow-mobiling are also popular sports. In summer there are abundant water sports an 18-hole golf course riding and walks in the surrounding countryside.
